I noticed recently that on ebay people are selling search engine cloakers which creat pages full of keywords only visible to spiders, are they any good?

No, they are pointless. To rank on the search engines, a page need two things.

- Content

- Link Popularity (PR)

Cloaked pages can have very customised contnet but they can never have PR (since the don't exist for other people to link to.) So the cloaked page won't rank any better.

Also, cloaking isn't really all that hard to do if you know how. Wouldn't pay for it.

With cloaking you always run the risk of getting banned/penalized too...not worth the risk if you ask me.

Totally agreed. It only takes one person to report this and you'll be kicked off the SERP's for good.
