I'm trying to figure out a domain name and I was wondering do you think it is better to have a catchy domain name or a domain name that contains your target keyword?

both would be ideal, but it's really not essential to have your keywords in your domain. Sure it might help a little, but we're talking a really small amount here.

Go for a catchy, easy to remember name. Especially if you want people to talk about your website. People don't want to be saying "oh, did you see that article on this-is-my-domain-name.com? It was awesome."

i think having the keyword in the domain helps a lot, especially with google. Sure it won't matter if you're going for a high-traffic keyword and you're going to put a lot of effort in. But it might just swing a good position on a lower traffic keyword if your lazy.

Yes it is very effecting for your keyword if you can choose targeted keyword in domain name. if your website have many keyword then you can choose very high searches and main targeted keyword as a domain name so you can get lots of traffic and it will convert into business also

I would think that a catchy name that is relevant to your keywords is the best. If you can't get the best of both worlds, I'd go for short but catchy domain name (that is unique!) over a domain name that is peppered with your keywords.

Case in point is my company's name - Anafore. Short and unique and it actually has something to do with what my company does. I'd prefer that over ReferralMarketingGuru or some other form of domain name that targets our keywords.

If you want to rank for that keyword, then choose keyword as your domain name. that will help you rank higher.

I keep hearing that if you have your keyword in your domain that you will get better ranking. But I think without the proper SEO it doesn't matter if you have the keyword in your domain. I am still trying to rank high for a domain with my keywords in them and it is a phrase too so should be easier. SEO is really what matters, not your domain name, just make sure you have the keywords in your title and all good alt tags.

When I built a niche site where I knew most of my traffic would come from search engines, I used my main keyword in the URL.

When I built a site where I knew most of my traffic would come from direct traffic and referring sites, I used a catchy domain name.

I think it's a good rule of thumb.

using keywords in domain name is good idea but make sure your domain name is user friendly and easy to remain and do not use any special character on your domain name.

Its good for search engine optimization, if that is what is important to you then that is what you should do. It depends on the product and how you want to market it.

A catchy domain name for a site that sells spark plug testers exclusively would be silly. Better would be sparkplugtester(dot)com or something like that.

Domain name in keyword helps a lot....... It is very helpful in SEO.

If you main keyword is in domain then there is much chances that you have to less activities in link building if competition is high depending on the ratio of competition.
