Advertise your links then. A text link or a banner link might be assured especially if it contains high PR.

Find a product with a nice shiny green bar with ten lights that display a number of lights, starting at zero from purchase and every few months it will go up one, or maybe it will go down one.

Even your site can work for you..if PR is high and well optimized,you can set it as an advertising site.

If you are in SEO field, I would suggest you can sell traffic solution or a entire SEO solution in which your users may be interested in. Or if you have your own website with High pr and traffic, then you can accept advertising in it.

(1) Link building
(2) On-page and Off-page optimization
(3) Building and selling SEO friendly sites

they're actually registered in my article directory as authors, i'm thinking they might not be interested in something i'd offer because like me, they're also techie

You have the wrong idea of why they are "authors"

They are only there to drop "spun" garbage and link drop "articles".
They are not interested in your site for what it is.

Those type of so called "SEOs" are just the locusts of the internet, swarming on anything and everything that is consumable and once that is destroyed as a possible resource they move on to destroy somewhere else.

If I was running a directory of any kind, authors and editors would be by invite ONLY and anyone requesting to be part of the project would have to prove their value first.

Selling advertisement is best idea. In all you are salesman at higher level so you need to think a idea which can change advertising scenario. I think this will be a big hit.
