How to get links?
|
Posts: 25

I am looking for some advice on getting links. I have created a brand new site and have concentrated on a lot of on page SEO. I have optimized, title tags, URL structure, site architecture, sitemaps, internal linking etc etc.
The next step for me is to get links. I wanted to hear what people's thoughts were in regards to best link building strategies.
What have you guys found worked and what didn't?
Here are a few ideas I am looking to start with.
1) Create awesome link bait - infographics
2) Create testimonials for related products/service and tell the owners in hope of them linking back
3) Blog commenting and Forum Posting - Finding highly targeted blogs and forums and genuinely joining in with conversations
Would love to hear from your experience

If you want quality links then take time out of each day to write blogs, articles, and forum writings that are related to your niche and include your link in the end/ and or resourced box

Link baiting could be efficient if you really can do a better research on the trends of the visitors. You must be able to give them what they are looking for.

Perhaps the secret to getting links is to create content worth linking to. Instead of first focusing on where to get links why not focus on creating things people actually want to link to.
1. Create link worthy content
2. Let people know your content exists
Everyone is focusing on the 2nd, but without the 1st the 2nd doesn't work. With the 1st in place you don't need to do nearly as much work as you might think to get others to link to you.

Thanks for the tips guys. I do find creating link worthy content the best "link building strategy. When thinking about how to get links I have considered some link building services like Build my rank or Unique Article Wizard.
Have any of you guys used these services?
any other link building strategies you have found useful?

The above quoted post is the BEST advice in this thread so far.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
And for those of you that are posting here and other forums utilizing your signature space, keep in mind that the majority of viewers / readers become impressed with posters that have well thought out responses that contribute something to the topic not already said. because of this, they tend to visit the posters signature to find out more about them.
Those of you posting 1 liners and repeating the same exact strategies in different words someone else already posted above you, it is not helping you (besides the backlinks, but you'll probably be flagged for spam anyways). Those type posts just get passed up and people normally have no desire at all to visit their sig link.
The moral of this story is that no matter what type of content you are doing (for your own site, a blog comment, or even a forum like this) it benefits you to keep the Quality content mind set in order to maximize your potential.
Just my added thoughts on this topic,
Eric Lyon

Eric I think your post is now challenging mine for the best post in thread honors.
So true about quality posting here at the forum or in blog comments or any other social community. If you can't take more than a few seconds to put together a coherent thought with helpful advice here, why should anyone think you'll do that on your own site.
The biggest value in social communities is had by contributing to the community. If you do that then people will visit your signature or profile link. Assuming genuinely have valuable content on your own site those same people will link to it and share it with others.
That's the best way to get links back to your site.

I agree, you can get quality links by creating compelling content that others will want to link to, (like an authority figure, giving 'top tips' or preceding the anchor text with 'free,' 'cheap,' or 'best ')Contributing quality input in your niche, relevant forums ,guest blogging....do not get tunnel vision on a single method of link building !!

There are many ways to get links. Like link building , blog commenting , directory and article submission and many more. But which one is the best for to get links is depends on us which technique we use and what type of content we provide.

7 Should be the first option instead of list the usual junk "methods"
Getting links is very easy when you start thinking that links are for PEOPLE rather than search engines.
