Over the last couple of years the small company I'm affiliated with has developed a safety and security information service for renters of self storage facilities. It's selfstoragealert.com. The website was turned on about two weeks ago. As you can see its a download sales product.

We are small and are just putting together our market plan. We can't afford to go bog time in add purchases, however are, this comming week starting some social networking, etc.

The potential market for this product is enormous. But we can't accomplish our goals from inside the industry. We are a whistle blower type program and the big players are not pleased with our revelations or information provided. It is not good for their bottom line. It's their customers that are our marketplace.

Question! Where is the starting place (base line information) for putting a link posting campaign or affiliate program ttogether. There are millions of potential customers and we want to develop a small cadre of marketers all working off their own website.

We are the safety and security specialists. Not web marketers.
Or are there any better ideas.

Ensure that your site is optimized(title tags, meta tags etc)and you have fresh, unique and informative content.Then start establishing your site as an authority one by participating in social bookmarking and social media sites (FB,Twiiter), apart from give insightful comments on blogs and forums.Do not forget the local market !

Hey Rumbling. Go to Youtube and subscribe to Google Webmaster Central. This has Matt Cutts talking about various subjects w/in SEO. He does touch on Internet Marketing as well.

You may not be able to understand it all - but give it time - and you will.

Promotion via topical forums and other resources could be good for you. I think you could find lots of accurate guidances around the net. Some time ago I met ten tips for promotion and may share them here:

You said that you're going to start campaign thru social networking sites, of which of course is a good idea. And I would further suggest that you should use the right keywords to gain more traffic and be known to everyone here at least without spending a dime.

I think both; join forums and talk about your business and possibly post your link there and an affiliate program as well, that is if you can handle them both.

If your chosen renters of self storage niche is a hot product area then, you done the first part correctly. The second part is in making sure your site has all the proper coding and keywords in the domain name, title tags, website description and even your header and make sure you have decent content on your pages.

~ Create quality backlinks "do follow"
~ Offer a free report/newsletter and build your list
~ Article marketing (Beware of new rules Feb. 2011)
~ Bookmark and ping your web information
~ Networking and spread the word
~ Forum and blog posting
~ You Tube and video commenting
~ JV with other web owners

It's important to find a route to market that is both profitable and also suits your style of marketing. Did you say you're a web owner or an affiliate?
