I am confused with the word "duplicate Content" in submitting to directories. Here is the situation, I will submit (one) a unique article to 10 article directories; can you consider this as a duplicate content?
those directories will probably accept your article even though they're already published elsewhere. But you see, the quality in this case is NONE - they will be de-indexed.

Agree, each directory is more reasonable to hold a unique article. It is better to do rewriting or something like that.

Nope it's not. Obviously a duplicate content is anything that is not 100% unique and with different authors of course; but if the author is the same and original/unique, I don't think it can be called a duplicate content.
The problem is none of you seem to know that there is a difference between unique and "somewhat different"

Unfortunately you have to rewrite if you want to add any SEO value with these articles
Agree, if the articles are the same or even similar they will be of no value to you.

Well, as everyone may see duplication of any content is neither good for the reputation nor for SEO, so avoid it. Post articles within your site and perform other promotion to make some success.

If you change a few words within each article then, that will be usually deemed as different, but you're always better to do each article as unique. The article directories have really tightened their rules since the new Google content farming rules of Feb. 2011 and in particular Ezine articles.
Google has built the Panda update with the sole purpose to provide quality search results to its users. But will it be wise to rank on the first page with 10 links from 10 same content posted in different directories.Google obviously will rank only one as it can read duplicate content and take the others as spammy.

You may spin it and then submit to another directory. Its an important issue nowadays after google panda update and it may harm your ranking if duplicates are found.
You cannot control everything when it comes to Internet. Some people might copy your content and reuse it on their sites or others. Is Google smart enough to tell which one is the original?
