I am launching a new bidding website design site and want to improve its branding and SERPs at the same time.One of my friend suggested that Guest Posting is the best way to achieve this. How you see this? Can it be helpful in achieving my purpose?
Guest posting is mostly used for blog sites. I don't know what you expect to gain from it on a bid site, I guess it would depend on what product or service is up for bidding.

yeah you all are right,guest posting is very helpful for you increase in traffic,due to this many people visit your site and it will be profitable for you.

Yes, guest posting will surely help you achieve your goal. you can find a good diagram in here, you will see the exact and good explanation on how this will help your site.
I agree that guest posting can be very useful for blogs and other websites that need visitor interaction. While you need the visitors, you are probably looking for quality members with sincere intentions.
I'm just not sure this would be appropriate for a bidding site. If I were to decide to choose to register and bid on items by using a certain website I would probably not choose one that contains random posts and comments of anonymous individuals.
I'd look for security and safety, which means registrations, agreements and preferably reviews and ratings. You will not accomplish this with guest posting.
