hello all,
This is rakesh. I have site which is developed by me. I want to promote by site to increase traffic. I have exchaged outgoing links as well as incoming links, but there is no traffic on my site.
pls. help me!!

such an ignorant question. Do the research, there is so much you could be doing right now. Submitting to directories optimizing your website for search engines and form partnerships.

It's interesting with all the things that have changed with the web over the years the promotion of a site is relatively same: complimentary/relevant links and up-to-date/useful content for search engine.s to munch on.

There are many methods for generating traffic to your Web site; some excellent and some a waste of time and money.

Effective methods include ensuring that your site is found and listed well in natural search results, using Keyword Advertising to generate targeted traffic, obtaining links from related sites or sites whose visitors would be interested in what you offer, putting your Web site address on all printed materials, business cards, and in your email signature, and advertising offline.

Yes it is true you need to submit to search engines, post in forums (carefull not to spam them) generally get interested in any forums you visit and take paart in discussions, submitting to places like dmoz is also a good idea as its very popular, you may also need to pay for some submissions, and this is sometimes rewarded in you getting hits which could in turn earn you some money back, it takes mostly time and patience as littlewhite practically said.
