I am looking for about 34 sites that have a PR4 or above to link to me. Is there any scripts out there that do the leg work for us or do we just have to go looking for urls and then run them through the pr scripts?

1/ You're going to need a sight more than 34 IBLs (no matter what PR the toolbar shows) if you want any kind of rankings as yet another affiliate of Life Force International.

2/ Toolbar PR is vastly overrated, inaccurate and updated infrequently.

3/ Links should be chosen to bring targetted visitors not because of the TBPR guestimate.

I suggest you forget this PR link mongering crap and learn how to promote properly.

So you are saying that PR links don't help you eh? Confused because everything I have heard about search engines says that links are the way to go. Since you know how to promote properly ... please share.

the thing is with these scripts is they can only do the maths according to this document. The issue here is no one outside Google knows how accurate the various factors in the original equation are any more. Also a PR4 page with 200 links on it does not pass the same PR value as a PR4 page with 1 link on it. So coming up with a figure or 34 is a little fanciful to say the least.

Yes I agree absolutely that links are important, especially with Google, however, PR is only one small part of the Google algo (and zero of the others), What is more important is the Anchor Text. 10 links with good anchor text can be worth hundreds of average ones (regardless of PR). In some cases you can make a page rank for a phrase/word that doesn't appear on the page (cobblers kids) for example

For your link building efforts concentrate on getting links that will get bring in useful traffic and if possible allow you to use a keyphrase as the anchor. This will be more use to you instead of chasing a set number of links with a certain length of green bar. At the end of the day all links are useful (some more than others). So don't discount them just because they don't meet PR criteria. Just be careful who you link back to.

I agree on the link being useful to me. I would not ask a webmaster site for a link exchange. That's just dumb. My goal in all this was to find a few good sites (Health or Fitness related) and setup a link exchange ... I was just wondering if there was a way to check page rank by mass rather than searching hundreds of links just for a few good ranked pages.

How does this work .... this guy http://www.pillfreevitamins.com has a page rank of 6 and has more than 11,400 backlinks. The back links are from two places Wunderground.com and an advertisement on nbc stations. That is where 99% of his links are coming from. He is currently bringing in a lot of cash (I know him). If backlinks don't do much ... then why is his site so popular. No offense but I think my site is better ... in design, content and SE friendliness.

No, Google shows 11,400. MSN shows almost 50,000

Your missing the point. In Google links are important the more you can get with the right anchor text the higher you will rank for those phrases.

Your original post said you needed 34 PR4 links. NOW are you seeing how wrong that was. Maybe had it said 34,000 it may have been closer the fact.
There is absolutely no way you are ever going to rank your site for any of those phrases with spending a lot of money on buying links and paid promotion etc. so you are going to have to settle for now on targetted traffic on lower competition phrases. (or find another less competitive market place)

another point is your site is only 3 months old. Given your market place and the competitive nature of it DO NOT expect to see any rankings at all until this time next year if Google continues with the aging delay the currently have in place.
