Question .... when it comes to newsletters. Should you send the entire newsletter to your subscribers or should you have the newsletter on your site and direct your subscribers to your site to view the newsletter?

Which format has better results?

Depends on the length of the newsletter. For short articles, I would just put them in the email, but with longer articles, it might be a good idea to place the first two or three articles in the email, followed be a "More Information" link leading to a webpage.

That way, your users don't have to pick through a 20 page long email every week, and you can earn a bit of extra revenue putting PPC ads on the article pages.

I send the general information (news overview) with links to "the full resources and tools" in my news letters. This works very well for me and my receipients.

The question with that is ... do you really get people to click the link to go to your site. For instance ... my site was recently listed as a newsletter sponoser on a large fitness site ... they have 400,000 subscribers .... I got 20 hits so far from the newsletter. That's it!! They mainly just send an email out to thier subscribers letting them know that the newsletter is read and what is in the newsletters. The subscribers then have to go to their site to read the newsletter.

That particular newsletter obviously doesn't have a very active subscriber list then. They probably pay no attention to spam filters, etc, and get filtered out most of the time.

My advice is to capture their interest in the email, then link to the rest of the article on your site. That way, visitors get to choose which articles they are interested in and want to read. If it doesn't work out, you can always change the format of the newsletter later on.
