Yes and no......Most portals that I use have more than the old style list of links, like My Yahoo, and such. However, I have submitted my sites to a few "directories" that called themselves portals so I don't think that you should have an issue

I would consider a directory a portal. To me a portal is something that can provide me information on most any topic I may want to explore. A general web directory like DMOZ or Zeal certainly fit that definition well. But most people using the term portal have pages combining search with other functions like news feeds, chat, etc. The ultimate example of this kind of "portal" would be yahoo.

Thanks for the reply. One thing I do want to add to the portal would be weather ... is there a way that I could ask for the persons zip code in a form and have it open up weather.com's page for that zip code? I don't want to use weather.com's tools as they kinda stink like old fish but I am not fluent in creating scripts.

I imagine there quite a few scripts out there to get the weather. I'd google on it. Also check out script directories like this one which I did search for "weather" on, and this is the results... http://www.scriptsearch.com/cgi-bin/...left&q=weather .

Don't know if any of those will help.
