I had the feeling the general consensus would be not to do it.
What you are saying makes perfect sense, but what about these companies that tout their mailings as opt in lists only? Are these still considered spam? And are they legit?
In my business, like most, a professional image and one's reputation are a priority. Clearly, sending out one million emails at random is begging for trouble. But I'm wondering what is wrong with, say, 100,000 to individuals who are alleged to have expressed an interest in the subject matter.
I would also think that a targeted campaign such as this would generate worthwhile results. But, never having done this I don't know. That's why I'm asking.
