Does anyone have any experience paying for a mass mailing of alleged opt in email recipients?
I'm considering trying one or more of these campaigns, and I'm wondering how effective it might be increasing sales, (which is the whole reason for it), which companies might be useful and which are better avoided, etc.
Thank you.

I have been on the web since 1996
basically I have done every thing to get sales

I would recommend a Mailing list If i was your enimy
it does not work

how many junk emails do YOU read ?

what happens is as you start sending spam , you start getting back ... junk. Removes and lots of viruses

it tarnishes your image on the web

and whats your target market ? , if you are selling hosting accounts and you send a general email you may get 1 order for the million or so emails you sent ...

Bottom line

its not worth it in the long run

I'd certainly recommend against it. A spam campaign can really ruin your business.

I also read about one 'professional spammer'. He sends out 10 million e-mails every day and only gets 10 to 50 responses from all of them!

I had the feeling the general consensus would be not to do it.
What you are saying makes perfect sense, but what about these companies that tout their mailings as opt in lists only? Are these still considered spam? And are they legit?
In my business, like most, a professional image and one's reputation are a priority. Clearly, sending out one million emails at random is begging for trouble. But I'm wondering what is wrong with, say, 100,000 to individuals who are alleged to have expressed an interest in the subject matter.
I would also think that a targeted campaign such as this would generate worthwhile results. But, never having done this I don't know. That's why I'm asking.

Payed opt-in lists do not work. I have tried one and the only thing you get is hundreds of commercial messages a day, which I just delete automatically. Of course this does everybody, so sending messages is useless because nobody reads them. I haven't made a single extra sale with it.

If you create an optin list yourself, and visitors of your site(s) register themselves, then it's a valuable tool.

Regards,
Jurgen

Thanks for the compliment. I am not that happy with anymore, so I am working on a new version. Much lighter, cleaner, faster :-)
