Hello Everyone

Ive not been here for a while because ive been busy with website promotion, but the only problem is that i havent been getting very far :-(

I have been doing the link exchange thing, but because of the nature of the site, most people i want to exchange links with specify a alexa rank under 250000, its been difficult trying to get under that, i have also been throwing money away at paid ads etc etc for ages and not really getting any results.

There must be away to get good traffic and not throw money away, im hoping someone would be kind enough to give me some tips, as im about ready to throw the site in the bin and carry on with my normal job as a mechanic, not that i want to of course.

The website has cost me well over £2000 ($4000) so far, i need results quick otherwise i might go mad and be locked up in some retard centre :-)

Thanks for listening

Jeff

Well that just shows how stupid they are!

It takes time. Your domain has only been registered a few months. Although as yet another turnkey joke archive site you ain't going to make a fortune easily.

Use search engine optimization but target the less used keywords. You'll see results much faster and get encouraged. Targeting the best keywords takes time...

From what i can see all your pages have the same title this is very bad and search engines do not like this. I suggest giving every page an alternative title this will improve your rankings.

I have had the search engine opt and it is working slowly, but the only problem is that is was done by someone else and since then i have messed around with the website renaming pages and adding different content.
If im doing adjustments like this will that make any difference to the search engine opt, or will i need to do that again to get results?

Also eUK, i dont suppose you could give me a little more on the pages have an alternative title, as im very new to the website thing and would like to know more.

And yes Chris your absolutly right, 250000 is a huge target to get link exchange on some sites, ive been working on the site for ages ( seems like it with the amount of hours and days), i get the felling that some of these humour sites havent really got the traffic they say and are acually benefiting from the people that are doing the hard work.

I might be wrong but thats the feeling i get anyway.

It seems a long slog to get there and im beggining to loose it a bit. The good news of course is that i have a lot of patience, which is really important as it was the first lesson i had learned when i joined this side of the business.

However, i have been getting some really good feed back from webmaster talk and its a privalige to join a community that is willing to help :-)

Anyway

So sorry to have taken up so much of your time, when i start getting my feet around places, i tend to talk for ages lol.

Speak soon

First thing to do is STOP SPENDING YOUR MONEY!!!!

How old is your site?

What keywords are most important to you?

Well, I've heard that those ratings can very easily be manipulated by a webmaster. I don't know how cuz I don't care about them, but if you read more about them, I think you can get your rating to look great hehe.

Getting traffic is what millions of webmasters are trying to do.

We all thought, 'If we build it, they will come', heh, duh.

May I ask? If you were now getting traffic, what would you do with them? Are you selling something? I don't see any income producing ads there.

What is your business plan with that site?

Not only are you copying and pasting ad-copy from your site, but you did it in two different threads.

To me, that is cheap spam.

If you spam forum owners now, you'll spam us later, which gives me the feeling that your "paid posting service" will probably be spam, spam, and more spam.

Get it?

How can we expect quality posts from "your paid writers", if the person is charge is a spammer?

I’m not sure if you fully understand the meaning of the word spam.

S - Small
P - Pointless
A - Annoying
M - Messages

Now, its not small, nor pointless. They have a point. You may find them annoying, ill give you that. But its hardly spam.

But I do understand what your getting at, but the point of advertising is to get your message out to the public. That is simply what I am doing. You may think of it as unprofessional. But that is simply your opinion.

Our post are detailed, and on topic. We are highly against "SPAM". If our customers are not satisfied with the posts my employee’s are making. We will either find them a new poster, or give them a refund. (Under a few conditions of course)

Regards,
-The Pixel Dynamic Management Team.

Even though your visual representation of spam is good, spam also includes posts that only promote a member's business, especially when that post is identical to other posts they have made.

Well, whatever. Im not sure if i deserve this negative rep though.

It was a few harmless ads. But as you can see, I havent most anymore.

Im a little disapointed with the way this was handled. He more or less flammed me up there. Using the word spam over and over.

Oh, well.

S - Small ------------- I think spam can be of any size actually.
P - Pointless----------- All spam has a point, to advertise or promote.
A - Annoying ---------- Spam need not be annoying to be spam.
M - Messages

Personally, I have always thought of spam as unsolicited advertising.

Yes of course, but there are ways of advertising that avoid the "unsolicited" aspect. Such as, newsletters, banners, opt in email list, search engines, etc etc. To post advertising here is much the same as sending it to us via email without our approval.

Well, if I was rude, sorry.

It struck me as ironic that you are selling 'detailed, on topic posting services',
yet instead of demonstrating that here, you posted ad-copy. Yah know?

but anyways...welcome to the forum

You'll need to invest more time and less money. If you need results yesterday, then I suggest dumping it.

I agree with the more time less money, ive never spent any money on advertising any of my sites. Yet my main site which has been up for 5 months is less than 1mil in alexa. Nearly all pages have a pr rating from 1-4. Backlinks are growing everyday.

For a start you could include a sig in your profile that people can use to visit your site. Join lots of forums aimed at what your site is about and post content that will get members wanting to look at your site.

Start a blog or an rss feed and submit it to directorys, update them often and include content that will make consumers want to visit your site for more info or because they think what you write is good.

Post to directorys lots of directorys. Quality directorys are a must. Even if thousands on there offer the same as your site its still a link back to it.

Ill think of something else soon.

If you want traffic quick, you are going about things the wrong way. SEO can sometimes be a long, and unforgiving process in attempt achieve a few untargetted clicks. Unless you have a great PR, and your site is fully optimized, chances are that you won't achieve the results that you are looking for. You make get listed, but under what keywords?

I think that Adwords is your best bet. If you have a product or service that will sell, you will see quick results from adwords. If you product just simply does not sell, well, you wouldn't see results anyways. It is best to test in Adwords initially, and if the product sells, move forward and set up an SEO campaing. Really, why go to all the hard work to obtain incoming links, opitimize your site (which may degrade your sales copy) without the prior knowledge of ROI and overall product acceptance.

Just my 2cents.

Agree fully, that is SPAM, an email folder full of Cr@p i didnt ask for.

With websites listed in search engines SPAM has a whole new meaning, isnt it:-
S - Sites
P - Positioned
A - Above
M - Me

Cheers
