seo is a topic that would take a lot more than a sentence or two to really describe, but I think a basic definition might be:
search engine optimization (seo) is the art and science of optimizing websites and web pages so they rank as high as possible in search engines.
The first book I read on the seo can be found at http://www.searchenginesbook.com/ which does a very good job at explaining the essentials. You can find plenty of articles at http://searchenginewatch.com/
The best way to learn about seo is to read, read, and keep reading, articles and forum posts. It's a subject that many experts disagree how to do best and something that as soon as you think you've figured out someone changes the rules of the game.
You can have two websites with the same web hosting company, but you will have to pay for two accounts to have both domains online. Each domain will need a separate account.
