I don't think the high ranking is a result of high PR though. I think it's just a result of good optimization and lots of backlinks... which by coincidence also results in high PR.....

I went through 100+ article sites back in Jan and found most to be a waste of time because nobody was using them. I narrowed down my choices to the following:

IdeaMarketer
Amazines
The Article Hub

I even made a page on my site talking about them. The reason I feel these are your best choices to start with is because they get the most action, both from article submitters and article downloaders. I have articles on go articles for instance that have been downloaded 50-75 times. And on ideamarketer some have been downloaded over 100 times.

I'm not big on articles anymore, but anything that makes whatever you do more efficient....

half the article sites either don't work or have faulty article submission, also, i don't understand how i'm supposed to add my link if they just appear as text and not links???

It seems like crappy article submisson site are taking over from crappy directories, and every newbie and "this will make you a fortune on the internet" mug is falling for it.

then they turn up here and other forums and link drop their crap everywhere

When doing article submissions I use to manually submit it to each directory. It was time consuming and could take a day just to do a few articles. Due to that and the lack of time I now have, I use isnare.
