I am trying to develop content in my niche directory (Dallas Fort Worth and Texas links). What should I do to get foot traffic across my directory? I have a budget of $90 per month and an Adwords account. I can't seem to get people to drop a link in my directory, and I don't even require a reciprocal link!

Are there resources I am unaware of?

Direcory in question:

I think the main thing is getting the word out about your directory. Your post here is one way. I know I routinely add links when someone on a forum mentions a directory.

Is everythng working with the directory. I'm not in the Dallas-Ft Worth area, but I just tried to submit a link and got a message that I needed to first choose a sub directory. Unfortunately there wasn't a subdirectory where I was (Internet) so I couldn't submit. I did suggest a sub category.

The front end works, although the back end gives me trouble (mySQL). I make sure not to edit in such a way as to affect previously submitted hyperlinks, or the front end. You must be in a subcategory to submit, and while that is irritating to me, I am pleased with the product overall (CPlinks). Do you think I should alter the text to make it clear that the user needs to drill into a sub-directory (if it exsists) to post their link?

Thank you very much for your input, Vangogh!

PS: I did approve your Category suggestion.

I think as long as visitors know before they try to submit to a main category it's fine. Most directories want you to drill down to sub categories before submitting so I already expected it might happen. Maybe for the catgeories that you can't submit to yet it might be a good idea to display a message to that effect.

You might also want to add some of the categories yourself though I know that can be time consuming.

Does the new category mean I can submit? I'm not really local to the area though my servers are located in Dallas.

Im also using cplinks, I would recommend that you edit the submission text to point out that sites who gives recipional gets listed first in their category.
While I dont get many link backs, it did help, it also helped to pre-fill the most popular categories so that it is more crowded and webmasters wants their link on the top of their category.
