Hello,

I was thinking of writing about 2-5 articles on topics related to my website then submitting them to about 100 article sites.

Would this be ok for the article site and SE's or would it be regarded as some kind of spam or unwanted crap etc.

That's fine. Are you planning on having the artcle somewhere on your site too? If you are I would add it to your site first and wait until the search engines have indexed it before submitting it. Let them know the article started on your site.

Also make sure to have links back to your site in the article with relevant anchor text. I'm thinking of the standard author credit kind of thing at the bottom of the article and maybe even a link or two in the body of the article if it makes sense for it to be there. I wouldn't overdue the links though. Then sit back and wait for the articles to get downloaded and hopefully added to a lot of relevant sites.

Yeah, I would post the article on your site with a byline that includes your URL. When you submit to article sites, just make it clear that anyone who syndicates your article must include the full text, including your byline with the link.

Also, include some text on your site indicating that anyone may use the article on their site without prior permission so long as they include the byline.

Article submissions are one of the best strategies for getting traffic to your site, so I wouldn't hesitate in doing this. Just make sure your articles are good quality and don't advertise your own site/business in the body of the article, or most publishers/directories won't touch it - there's plenty of room in the resource box for a brief blurb about you, your site, and a link.
