What is a good "seeding" strategy to get my viral movie (see signature) passed around by as many people in my target market as possible?

Look forward to your ideas!

If you had a normal viral video, I would submit it to as many video sites as possible, making sure to brand it well so that people will go back to your site. Here are some good ideas for places to submit to:

Stupidvideos.com
Spikedhumor.com
Addictingclips.com
Youtube.com
Filecabi.net
video.google.com
Bofunk.com
Funny-videos.co.uk

Also, get a Bit Torrent client, seed your file, and list it over at Torrentspy.com

However, since your video is pretty serious, some of those sites wouldn't accept it. I would submit to Google videos and Youtube, and then look around for some more viral video sites, possibly those with a Christian or other religious theme. Viral videos can be very valuable, but yours doesn't fit into the standard model of something funny and stupid, so it's going to be a lot harder to get it out there.

ps. Over at TGTE, we're working on a list of good places to submit content. There's not much there yet, but check out the If You Have Content... section in the next few weeks.

Anna, I think I'm chatting with you now on two forums. What about moving the 'send to a friend' link higher up on the page. I'm thinking before the signup form. I was originally going to suggest adding one since I didn't see it at first.

I think the way it's set up now people will first decide if they want to sign up and if they don't they won't scan further down the page to the link. Moving it up might get people to send the link to a friend regardless of whether they want to sign up themselves or not.

Tom - yes, I know what you mean. My movie is not really a funny one.

vangogh - hi again! Yeah, I try to hang out at the best forums! Putting the send to friends link higher up on the page might just work. I'm testing a few things, and I'll add that to my list of "things to test". Thanks!

I've been researching a little about using social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us to help with viral marketing. Seems like there's a lot of potentilal there.

Another thing that might work is to find some sites that are speciically there to inspire people or just help when they're down and offer to let them use the video along with the recommend to a friend link.

The more people you have out there promoting the video the greater the reach of the viral marketing.

I really found your site very nice. I enjoyed watching that short movie. It was inspiring! Thank you

But sadly, I am not too sure what you could do to send it viraly. Although, I know sites such as milkandcookies.com may help, but I don't know if they accept serious clips. It seems the popular clips are mindless entertainment.

By the way, this may be an ironic question, but what inspired you to make the video and the site?

Hi xxndnromeoxx,

Thanks for your post! I know what you mean about most movie clip sites only wanting funny clips... I'll just have to try various other tactics.

I was "inspired" to create the clip because I'd seen a few other movies like this around and I thought it would be a great way to give people some heart-felt inspiration and at the same time entice them to sign up for my motivational email newsletter.
