I'm blown away, One, I think I have a great way to make some money off of something I've been working on. Two, sharing it with you makes good business sense if you happen to be interested in making money from your webmastering skills.
I'm currently viewing this web forum page inside an experimental Internet Explorer window that an application that I wrote currently has full control of.Each time a hyperlink is clicked my application checks it before it is allowed to continue. In this fashion I can control the destination and file format of the incoming destination.
This means that I can sell to newspapers a version of this application that is vertical in nature and customizable to the publishing needs of the readers of the newspapers that would be the supporting content of this new capability. The software would be free to the readers and the topics of interest would be customizable based on interests of the reader.
See this interesting article on the future of newspapers and the internet:
http://www.ojr.org/ojr/business/1078349998.php
"The real solution for the industry's future doesn't revolve around simply adding multimedia to generic editions. It instead will require that the newspaper industry:
1. Use new technologies to match the newspaper's existing cornucopia of content to satisfy each individual reader's unique mix of interests
2. Understand that neither newsprint nor the Web nor digital editions nor wireless is the answer, but that the true convergence of all those into a single unitary product not only is necessary but likely within 10 years
3. Focus less on the industry's ability to produce content and more on its unique service of delivering to people a complete package of content -- a change that requires newsrooms and corporations to go beyond traditional definitions of "news" or "syndicated sources.""
So what does one discuss here, if anything. It is my belief that maybe a few of you here would take a few moments to investigate landing a large client in the newspaper publishing industry and using new information to offer a potential solution to the demise of the printed newspaper while providing yourself with added income.
I'm not sure this is the correct place to bring this up, but it looks like it to me.
