I have been experimenting with several text ad networks, started out with Google but they shut me down because they said I urged visitors to click on the ads. Funny thing was that I had a part on a column on my site where there was a header saying "Sponsors" and below it, the Google ad. Okay so I made some money off of them but it would have been nice if that could have continued.
So now I'm playing around with a few networks, Yahoo (which I find to be really nice, they even called me after I signed up. And yes I am making money off of them.)
Then there's Adbrite, seems okay, they let you sell adspace and they have in network ads. I haven't sold anything yet but hope to.
There's also Kontera which is a lot like Intelltxt. If you have content rich content, it links certain keywords. I'm starting to make money off of them, in little bits.
I'm also looking into streaming media, this looks interesting, it will be even more interesting if I make money off of it.
And lastly, I've sold some ads on my own. Pricing was a big question for me. Seems like a lot of people on this forum are short changing themselves. My site gets around 300,000 page views per month and its still growing. I've been able to sell text links for $30 a month unlimited views. I prefer that to the PPC, CPM, etc mostly due to the fact that the client won't get over charged and will get exposure with out having to worry about click fraud.
Okay so now I'm playing around with verbage to try and sell some of my site realestate so I can cut out the middle man. Any idea what advertisers look for?
