Hey everyone. I'm sure you've all seen the huge lists of article submission sites that always end up floating around forums like this one. They're useful, but they're sometimes hard to find after a few days, and they're often missing a lot of sites.

To solve this problem, we at The Great Traffic Experiment consolidated a number of lists into one Master List, gave it a permanent location, and made it searchable by site type.

thanks for the information above... by the way... i just want to ask... is it ok to submit the same article a numerous list of websites ot article directories? what could be the effects and consequences?

You should be fine submitting your article to multiple sites. The more you submit to, the more backlinks you get. However, before submitting, you ought to first post the article on your site and wait until the search engines pick up on it; if the engines find it on another site first, there's a chance that that site will appear above your site in the listings when someone searches for the article.

another thanks to you tom... hey... do you know anything about rss feeds and how they work?i have encountered the term "rss" a couple of times already but im still clueless as to how to use them and why i should use them...

RSS = Really Simple Syndication
It's a protocol which is based on XML and is used for syndicating information in a standard format.

For example, many news sites have XML feeds of their articles. Suppose you had a program that read XML feeds, and you wanted to load an article from CBS and an article from ABC. If their XML feeds were set up differently, your program might not know how to read each feed. RSS solves this program by setting up a standard format for feeds--since all RSS feeds are in the same format, one RSS feed reader can read any RSS feed.

RSS is useful if you want to share any kind of informatin which might change frequently. In addition to news sites, blogs, forums, and other sites with dynamic information use it.

Anyway, this thread is kinda digressing. Maybe one of the admins could split it, or we could continue this elsewhere.

btw has anyone used one of the submission tools to automatically submit an article to multiple websites? Do they work?

I don't think a tool to do that exist. In fact, each of the site within is a tool to distribute to multiple places.

And boy is that a long list. I'm still at 'A' right now.
