Participating online discussion forums drive lots of traffic to my website.

I am spending daily 2 hour for forum posting.

Can you describe your experience in forum posting?

well... i learned a lot on forums but i never got much traffic from them (exept the one or two times i advertised something or asked for a review).

not much = 5uniques a day

From my own experience, forums have helped my businesses greatly. I have make many contacts and also lined up a good deal of work.

Forum posting is a great way of getting traffic.Posting in number of good forums will keep your online presence. Lot of forums allow each user to create his own signature. So each time you post something over certain forum your signature would be automatically attached.

Forum traffic is by far the best source for me...2 hours of forum posting almost is leaning towards SPAM

lol i post a lot more than 2 hours a day but not on the same forum..

i guess i just don't have a life....

Not so much so if it is good quality posts!

Participating in various forums with link to your site in the forum signature does help in getting a good amount of traffic to your site. But make sure you contribute with some quality posts and don't just spam the forum to show up your sig.

I don't think it is the best way for traffic, but I do find it extremely helpful in getting some sites listed in search engines quickly That isn't to say it isn't a good way! I just think a lot of people abuse it and misunderstand the workings of it. (Those who join a forum, spam their links, never to return again.) Eventually, it will be hard to trust the recommendation on any 'virtual friend' in an online community, because the communities will be filled with people only trying to sell us stuff. :X

the signature links etc.. are not important at all imo..

i think that the relations and info you get are far more important

About 20% of my traffic is coming from forum posting. It's a great way to build traffic, but remember to post something useful to other members of the forums.

My main traffic came from sigs till I got better with the search engines. it's a good way to promote and also extablish your "brand"

Forums (or any online community) can result in a good source of traffic though none should be your only source of traffic. The amount of traffic you get will depend a lot on the quality of your posts. If you only write one line posts all the time and not add very much to the discussion you probably won't see a huge increase in traffic.

If on the other hand you make some quality posts people will naturally be curious about you and your site and check you out.

It also depends on the type of forum as to whether any traffic turns into customers. For example I get a fair amount of traffic from this forum though the people who visit my site from here typically won't become my clients simply because they're not really looking for my services. Most people here are trying to do for themselves what I offer.

I do though get some clients from small business forums since the people at those forums are more typical of who my clients are. If you're looking to get clients or customers from forum traffic you shouldn't just be on forums where you have interests. You should also be on the forums where your customers are likely to be.

I also have a signature linking to my site but I'm not getting much traffic frm it. Does it take a long time to get traffic from forums ? Cuz I'm only an "Experienced talker" and have only some 35-40 posts. How do u guys know if your traffic is frm forums. I dont find a difference.

Lets look at this logically. It's all about trust.

Given that 95% of your posts are about "How can I make money online" and your sig anchor text is "$$ ONLINE MONEY-MAKING LABS $$ ". Why would anyone trust your site to give them anything useful or interesting ??

Look at the referer information in your site logs.

i agree. forum posting is a primary method of seo, but should be used in conjunction with other methods for much better results.

i just got an exellent idea

buy signature links of a lot of people on the same forum (here at WT for example), and let them link to your site.

gives some backlinks and lots of natural traffic (your link is seen on almost every thread )

How does that make forum posting useless. Traffic has very little to do with the PR of your site. Like I said before if you make quality forum posts people will be curious about what else you might have to say and check out your site. I get a significant amount of traffic every month from this and other forums. I've even gotten a good amount of clients from people who first came across me through a forum.

Search engine traffic is good, but so are other kinds of traffic. You should never rely on any one form of traffic anyway.
