I think in some respects it is just more of the same. I think there are points where it does get harder to get more traffic and it just won't grow at the same rate. Everything youve done seems right to me. You have a good site and plenty there to attract visitors and links. I have a hunch I should be asking you what to do to get more traffic than giving out advice.
Have you tried press releases? They might work to get you some links from place you don't get now and get your url in front of people who might not ever see it now.
How about social networking sites. I haven't tried them myself yet, but many sites seem to be getting good traffic from them. As for the worth of the traffic I don't know.
You might just need to do much of what you're already doing in different places. Maybe submitting articles in different places so a different group of people start to pick them up.
Do you have a blog? Blogs can open up your site to an entirely new audience and while it would still be directory submission you can add the blog to another category where different people will likely see it. Blogs can also be a good way to keep people returning.
Instead of trying to get more traffic what about trying to improve conversions on the site. It might be easier to double your conversion rate than it will be to double your traffic.
AdWords and the other similar programs might be the way to go as well. It obviously costs something, but it can work well.
How about offline marketing? Ads in newpapers, magazines, etc with your url might also drive traffic.
