If you've never used AdBrite, I'm not going to tell you not to, I'm not going to make any suggestions, I'm only letting you guys know what happened.

A few months ago I was running a CPC ad campaign for one of my sites. I wasnt getting the results I wanted after about a months time, so I stopped the campaign. I just recently logged in to my AdBrite control panel this week, and saw that my ad campaign automatically started again about a week after I stopped it, and had racked up about $100 worth of clicks onto my account. After talking to AdBrite support, they informed me that it did in fact automatically start back up on its own for some reason, without any action from me. I was hoping to get a refund but they told me they dont allow refunds, they only credit accounts for the money which was spent since the time it started back up. This doesnt help me too much because I'm still out the $100, but at least I get to advertise a little bit more to compensate for the lost money. I'm definitely not happy with what happened.

Anything like this ever happen to anyone else?

That's crazy. They admit the mistake is theirs yet they won't refund the money. Not only are you now likely to close the account once you've used that $100, but one simple post here will probably cost them a lot more than $100 in the future. Not the best business decision.

I was just asking in a different thread about what works and what doesn't. Adbrite was on my mind, but I didn't list that as a question.
I've seen other posts about adbrite not being the best solution.
Your experience with them has just strongly persuaded me to only look at them as a last option, if I even look at them at all.

I don't like that they have the control to start up a campaign of yours automatically, take your money, then tell you they won't give your money back to you. There was probably no notification on their part to let you know the campaign started again, therefore, if you hadn't checked, you'd still be racking up a debt with them. That doesn't smell good.

I've worked with adbrite before aswell, it's good if you know exactly what you want and think adbrite can help you do it. It is not the end all solution though, infact adbrite results can be really disappointing, I know from experience.

I wouldn't have thought they were legaly allowed to say that paying back what they stole wasn't thier policy. You should really have insisted that they pay back what they took without permission, and asked for compensation, Which may have been $100 credit. Either way, They are legally obliged to give you your money back, In cash.

stOx you're right. Isn't what they did the definition of theft. Sounds like it anyway. They take without asking and then refuse to give it back.

If you tell them you'll be contacting your attorney or the press they may give back the $100 in cash.
