Ive just created an RSS feed for my site , i was wondering where the best places are to submit the Rss feed so that it can get distrucuted etc and found bu surfers?

First, I would suggest registering the feed with Feedburner.com. Not only do they give you links to the feed in a variety of formats, they also send it to several feed promotion services each time you update it.

In addition to the services that Feedburner automatically submits to, there are a lot of manual feed submission services out there. Just Google "submit feed" and a bunch should come up.

If you want a pretty decent RSS directory:
RSS Submissions

They do have a lot of broken links which you would need to ignore.

As said above, try using FeedBurner as well to bring in some traffic and offer your feed in a ton of formats.

Add the feeds to 'MyPages' such as My yahoo, msn, etc...
the SE index them often.
