Is it possible to make a living from websites with Google Adsense ads? I have a true ghost stories site which makes around $1.50 per day on average. However, to become self-employed and say goodbye to drawing dole or working for others, I obviously need to be making much more than that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for replying to my query re. make money from Adsense. I was really pleased to receive your comments, and they have really encouraged me to persist with the program.

Adsense does seem to be a much better way of making money. I mean, I have tried virtually everything else - from dating affiliate links to Amazon products - but have made just pennies from them. To be honest, I was just about to give up trying to make money on the web altogether when I decided to try Adsense. Happily, I have found that this has been the most fruitful.

The only thing is, I wish I could get more click-throughs though on the Adsense ads. On my True Ghost Stories site, I have Google ads both across the top of each page and also on the right hand column (but should I change this to the left hand column?).

Another thing I would like to know is how can I insert photo ads with my Adsense text to get more click throughs.

Of my three websites, the most miserable failure I have had is the Earn Money Home Business one, and even with Google ads, it still is only attracting ONE visitor every few days! Do you think this is due to the fact that too many are putting up make money sites?

Adsense earnings go up in direct relation to visitors.
So if you make $1.50 a day and you want to make $150 a day you need 100 times more visitors, If you want $1500 a day, you will need 1000 times more visitors.

Ad position and colours may increase your CTR by 1%, but ultimately for more clicks you need more visitors.

That is true. A lot of people can make a living (or do) off adsense. It really depends on how popular your site is.
