I seem to be getting a lot more spam through the contact form of my ADAM Web Design site lately (at least daily, sometimes 5-6 times daily.)

And it's all the same thing: it's an East Indian or Pakistani web design firm asking me to outsource work to them. I'm sure there are legitimate web design firms in those areas, but the ones that choose to contact me are giving the whole area a bit of a black eye.

It's always the same type of idiots too: "We have an office in (insert English-speaking city or country name) and one in India." Translation: some guy in a fleabag apartment sends the orders back to New Delhi.

Is this a seasonal thing? When does this stop?

(Okay, I think I'm done ranting for now.)

It doesn't stop - I've been getting them for years!

I have collected a few clients who started out using Indian based design businesses and found they couldn't deliver what they wanted - lucky me

Hey Adam,
you're not alone! I received alot of spam from people I have never heard of. I really can't stand when I open the email just so I can 'OPT OUT' and there's no option to opt out. Go figure. I believe that they are making a bad name for 'Spammers', not necessarily the freelance community. I frequent other freelance sites and have found them to be profitable. Glad to say that they have never spammed me.

Never, never never click on a "opt-out" link from a spam email. Do that and the value of your email address goes up when they sell on the list.

yeah opting out just lets them know the email is legit. Always better to just delete it.

Adam, I'm not sure I've noticed any more than usual. It seems to come in waves for me and I never really look to see what's inside the email. I find I get a ton for a week or two then it dies down for a week or two and then it's back.
