Hi

A few months back I tried to make a little money in the Auto Surf industry, as a surf investor. At first I did ok, but as you might expect I ended up losing my profit.
My question is, does anyone think that just having your site on an autosurf sites rotation, & not actually investing, is one way to promote a small business. Or is it best to steer clear of these ponzi type programs altogether.

I don't think any of the auto surf programs is worthwhile to join whether it's for free or you have to pay. They generally won't send targeted traffic to your site, but either automated traffic or people visiting your site just to get enough credits so people will visit your site, or something else that really isn't going to bring worthwhile traffic your way.

Remember that there really isn't any quick fixes to seo. And auto surf networks are billed as a quick fix.

If you look at the traffic you get from most autosurf programs, you'll find that the visitors spend less than 5 seconds browsing your site. Unless you have some strange desire to boost your Alexa ranking, don't waste your money.
