High traffic, low income

According to my Google AdSense info, last month my site OMGPix.com got about 30,000 hits. Out of those hits I only got about 80 clicks, and made only about 6 dollars.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe switching to a different publisher, or different placement?

First thing is AdSense doesn't report hits so I'm not really sure what stat you're referring to. Do you mean page views?

The stat you should be checking is page views and something is telling me you didn't actually get 30,000 page views. Maybe you did, but I'm getting the feeling you might be reading the stats wrong in some way.

The ads themselves seem nice integrated on your site. I don't know how relevant they are to the people visiting since I don't know how people are finding you, but the ads do look good.

Could you double check on the stats and give more information about what you are seeing?

I'm looking at the stats now. They say for omgpix.com about 30,000 page impressions, and about 80 clicks. 0.26% CTR

I think perhaps it is about the content of your site.

I don't understand why my lack of income would have anything to do with the content. Maybe it would explain a lack of traffic, but thats not the case. It's not like the ads displayed low paying keywords.

Ok lets look at this for you and hope you understand this a bit better. First page impressions are misleading. That does not mean you had 30,000 visitors, but that your visitors were simply looking at different pages on your site that displayed Google ads.

To really know how well you are doing you need to go to your sites stats page through your control panel and look for unique visitors and then compare that number to the number of clicks you received. If you have AWStats then you can find this information quite easily and it will also give you a good picture as to what pages are extemely popular. This can help you to better promote your site.

Your ads are well place above the fold of the site and fit quite nicely with the look of the site as well. You might consider though placing a test link ad box to the left under the rest of your links that may help you down the road, but that is purely a personal choice.

Another thing you do need to do to increase your exposure is to add more written content. Pictures are great, but you need to add some written content as well. This will help you gain more traffic from the SERP's. I do like your sites library of pics though. I found myself browsing for a few minutes before finishing this post lol.

Good Luck!

Did you remove the AdSense? I'm seeing banner ads now.

Yeah I figured that I would experiment with different ad formats and different companies besides Google. I'm using Fast Click now. Or at least what used to be Fast Click.

JGiannotti: did you place your ads on the two "sites" in your sig? If you did, there are two reasons I can see why they wouldn't work:

1) Your "sites" are nothing more than 1-page get-rich-quick-feeling thoroughly useless ads for products that are marginally useful at best.

2) They're sales "sites". GAS doesn't work on sales sites, nor does any other type of advertising not directly related to the product...and if they do, you're driving away visitors.

If you have a sales site that is maxed out and can draw no more revenue from its primary source (and it does happen...I know, because I have one), then putting GAS on it is okay. But if not, as in 99.999% of cases, then you're going to kill yourself.

I'm with vangogh. Something is terribly wrong in this equation.
