Hello everyone !

Any good ideas on how to get your increase your traffic ?

Im still "new" to creating big communities. so i thought you guys would have an good idea.

Here is some of my ideas

1) Get affiliates / Link Exchanges

2) Tell about your site to friends

3) Dunno?

Hi,

Try good and unique content thats what they call "The king" links and telling friend is great, but if you have no good content why would they want to visit or come back, and a good product doesnt go a miss : )

Nothing beats writing articles related to your community and distributing these to article submission sites. This way, you get tons of one way links to your site. Write enough articles and get them distributed to all the artile distribution sites that matter, then you'll be seen as an authority site and people will want to flock to your site in droves.

This here is a list of article submission sites and article distribution lists. Just submitting one article to many of the sites in the list will get you a whole lot of one way links. Add to that the sites that will grab your article for their blogs, forums, newsletters, etc.

Buying traffic through a program like AdWords is a great way of getting
fast, targeted traffic (as long as your campaigns are set up properly).

To really "explode" your traffic, I'd say social media is the best. That's
both social bookmarking sites like Reddit and multimedia sites like Flickr,
YouTube and so on.

Also, classifieds sites like eBay and Craigslist can be huge if you get a
featured auction or do something a bit controversial.

Okay thanks. What about other big sites selling advertise eg. 200 dollars for a month, banner xxx * xxx pixels etc. is that worth buying?

submit your websites to directories to get one way links. It would boost your PR.

what do you guys think about automatic directory submission programs. ? from my point of view I think its much faster. But I have never tried it and I dont know if its good..

A fairly good alternative to buying an automated submission is rimshot
It only works with IE (best with IE6), but its very fast if you do multiple submissions, preferably on directories using the same software.
Another good thing is the non automated style of submission, you still choose category and alter the anchor text from time to time. I'm running a directory, and very often the automated submissions are CLEARLY automated, and those are rarely accepted.

Write good content and get good karma and reputation. And, I've seen from my experience that you can get a lot of traffic from web 2.0 sites like Mybloglog, Myspace etc. So, be a little more social and I personally won't go for link exchanges and article submission.

Adwords and others are good to get a a start. Since you're trying to make a community, you can concentrate a lot on web 2.0 sites and don't forget to post the link here at WT. We all would be happy to blast your bandwidth meters ;-)

Start a campaign in Stumbleupon, it gives you traffic almost immediately.

Reciprocal links are bad, and depending on who you point out to, it could be good or bad. Also nobody ever clicks banner ads, in fact, a lot of people block them. I would avoid affiliate programs and link exchanges.

I've added my site to a couple dozen directories. I don't get any traffic from any of them. Probably not worth the effort.

Content sounds like a cliche, but you really have to give people a reason to want to be on your site. You'll start showing up on other people's bookmark pages.
