Theres no way of getting quality free visitors, besides making a site that people want to visit.

If i was you i wouldn't display adverts. it makes people think "I wont use this host, I'll click the advert instead". You get a few cents for the click and your competitor gets another customer.

Try social bookmarking sites. Create a blog and update it regularly and make sure its linked to technorati.com

You could also try things like, placing ads of forums like this is the Marketplace section.

If you are going to use sumbleupon, you should also consider using www.stumblexchange.com to get yourself as many 'stumbles' for your site from other people, this will increase the amount of traffic your site gets from stumbleupon.

Free visitors are real visitors if you get them from stumbleupon, web directories, seo, etc.

You will get visitors much quicker if you pay for advertising on large sites, but then there is more chance that you will loose money rather than gain it if you do things slightly wrong.
