Good marketing idea?

In my opinion, yes. For it is free (or very cheap) and it will get you something.

It depends what your site is about. If you have a serious site and want to be taken seriously, Then myspace is something you should actively avoid.

It's a good option if you have a website geared towards teenagers and young adults. However, even it it isn't, you should probably take advantage of it. There's nothing better than free advertising!

The relationships formed especially in Myspace lack any real intimacy and more chances that you would find fake profile. If you go for myspace marketing, I would suggest don't exclusively depend on it.

MySpace can be a great way to reach people without spending money. It is especially good for reaching the younger demographic. You need to be creative in your approach. In other words, your content needs to be relevant to your audience and you never want to be frowned upon as an annoying spammer. Overall, the future of these types of sites looks good for free promtion and older demographics are starting to become available as time presses on.

Using MySpace to market a site is an OK idea if you are already famous or have something like 50,000 "friends" in your network. You may see a click-thru rate of about 10% if you simply put links to your site on your myspace profile.

I think the easiest way to get traffic from MySpace is to make graphical comments that people can post to each other with cut and paste HTML. If you have some that are fun, or interesting you can get a bunch of hits from MySpace and you don't really have to do any work.

Another way that I have seen is to offer recodes and graphics for people to use on their MySpace profiles.

I have personally put MySpace on the back burner for a while because I have found other more efficient ways of getting traffic to my site.

If you're aiming at a teenage market I think Myspace is up there with the best of them. However, the whole fake profile idea is slightly immoral imho and I imagine if Myspace found out they wouldnt be best pleased.

I would say if you are in the market of traffic that is teens and young adults that involves myspace it is a good marketing idea. If its for the older crowd or involves something that doesn't go along with myspace then It isn't a good marketing idea.

Myspace is free and you can post your ads, participate in forum, or a lot more. But if I used myspace and then post ads, they deleted it if they see that you are doing the spamming. If I login , if then go to login again and i cant come back to myspace again. I registered again but it happens the same.

Myspace is good to use for music and entertainment / humor type sites. Don't spam it is the best thing to do though as it is only cheating the system and they are starting to take legal action against spammers now anyway.

Pretty much if you are there to spam you will deleted. There are alot of people who are there for legitimate purposes that really take offense to all of the spam.

Currently MySpace doesn't police spam very well. But there are alot of ways to tell who is a spammer. If you have only one picture on your profile and short paragraph that just mentions you like to have fun with persons of the opposite sex and you mention a free Ipod or PS3 chances are you are going to get deleted. If you post bulletins with MLM offers or porn sites you are likely going to be found out.

If you use MySpace for a legitimate purpose you won't get deleted.

MySpace got me around 200 members for my forum in the space of 3 weeks. I can't think of too many other free advertising programs that match those kind of conversions.

I'd recommend it, but have a back-up plan. Don't focus all of your efforts on MySpace marketing either.

Can you offer any insight into how you got the new forum members from myspace? What marketing tactics were you using at the time?

I use MySpace a bit and I'd like to improve my marketing skills.
