I want to have a local home and garden forum that would be moderated by some local businesses. I would prefer to have it remote hosted and because I am the only one willing to pay anything it has to be cheap.

The people I have gotten to moderate it will do it in exchange for getting to advertise their business with a logo or picture.

Can anyone tell how best to find a message board site and what to look for so I know it is going to be legit.

Are you wanting a free forum with free hosting? If so, you might check out Aimoo or even Bravenet.

I want something inexpensive. After searching for several hours today I did narrow it down to ezboard and aimoo. I am now trying to find someone who has used either of them to see how good they are.
