i hav a forum reguarding travel but i don know how to make it popular or how to start to promot people to make them post on my forum plz help me...........

Getting a forum clicked is much much difficult than starting a forum.
Success of a forum depends on the following things
1. Your interest in the topics.
2. Support of a group of dedicated people.
3. Ability of ur forum to make your visitors come back again.

If u want ur visitors to come back and post mesage, you should make the impression that ur forum is very active. As long as the forum is inactive no matter howmany people visit the forum itsnot going to survive.
So first get the support of ur friends to post some messages in the forum. Make some offers and keep somebody with you to get things going initially. If u hav some money to spare then try some paid forum posting along with giving lot of publicity.

Remember, nobody is going to visit a forum unless they get something from it. So keep it interesting to the visitors.

You need to get a variety of "Key Phrases" that people who on your website could realte to. Meaning if you had for example a "Car Forum" then you would want Porsche 3943294 (obv not a real porchse) as a search phrase you have. A good way to do this is to put up anchor text as this can help you rank for keywords you are trying to get.

To get a forum active you need to make it look active by possibly paying people to post. This will help to build your posts and topics and will make the forum look busier. Once you have a certain amount of posts you can then stop paying them and hopefully you will then get people signing up automatically and posting freely.

Starting a forum for the purpose of a forum instead of fulfilling a need to facilitate communication.

Perhaps, the best way to go is to look for a group that would find a forum a useful communication tool. Then the traffic is guaranteed.

hmm. Yes, this also seems like good advice...Added Talkupation points 4 u. But both are required for optimium traffic results, backlinks + content + realitivty to the field.
