About 2 weeks ago we started to work on a web shop for a friend of mine.

Instead of standard "coming soon" page we set a page with big countdown and field for gathering emails.

Need other opinions about this.

I think it looks great and is a good plan.

Since you are collecting emails you may want to get a privacy policy on the site asap.

We got really great results for these 2 days.
From now we will always use this approach.
I think I will even create a separate "grand opening" script with field for gathering emails and counter, some simple admin page for it too.
