I can't believe it.
When I was there, it was just a quiet little beach town with good surfing. I can't even remember seeing any buildings with more than 2 stories. Wild iguanas all over the place. That pizza joint was open and had iguanas up in the rafters. The guys making the pizza would throw vegetables up there and the iguanas would catch them.
There was this one seafood restaurant, I can't remember the name, where 5 bucks got a huge plate with vegies, octopus, and rice. That was good stuff.
Night life was the one little disco by the beach, with no air conditioning, but an awesome fan by the bar. After it closed, there was the guy with a portable grill selling hamburgers, of all things.
I will say, the one thing I miss the most was the coffee. I've traveled a bit and have never found coffee as good as that in Costa Rica. I still get shipments of Cafe Britt pretty regularly. The original in the red bag is the best.
