Hi

One of my sites has really taken off recently, 40,000 uniques daily (usual traffic is 4,000 a day).

Can anyone help with finding a pay per impression scheme or something of that sort that could capitalise on this healthy spell the site is enjoying?

I had text ads on for a while and they paid great, but my host asked me to remove them due to possible SEO implications. So apart from text ads, anything else I should be trying?

That's interesting that a host would ask you to remove ads. Is it a paid host or a free host? Is there anything in their TOS that mentioned text ads? What SEO implications, were they specific about that?

In any case, finding a new host is probably your best bet!

Find a new host. If you're using a free host, for over a few $s for a low cost, non advertising host and then run adsense. You should recoop the cost of your hosting quickly.

I appreciate the "get a new host" posts, but it is not as simple as that, or else I would have went that route. I have a special hosting deal which suits me down to the ground, so I was hoping for some responses on the question asked

The SEO implication is that by using text ads you can incur a PR penalty from Google, and the PR is part of my hosting agreement.

Soooo, if anyone can help me capatlise on this enormous traffic without using rotating text ads, I'm all ears

)

Oh, and to answer the other question, the site is a gaming wesbite, all very legit.

Dude, you don't even know the deal. Do you know how much it costs to have a reliable server and 4Gb of traffic per day? Do you know how much my host is charging me? No.

Yes I do actually, seeing as I manage 3 servers in a UK datacentre.
To be honest, I really don't care what the deal is, and yes I only have the facts as you explained them.

But if you choose to believe them about PR and text ads then heyho, enjoy your ad free hosting.

I worked in a telecoms firm; it's really not that bad to get a dedicated server and T1 line, if that's what it takes to run your site. In a major US, city you can get as low as $250 a month plus the "last mile" installation if you supply the server of your choice. A T1 is a lot cheaper if you don't need it channelized.

It is a fact that the deal as you've explained it is a bad one. For several reasons: it sounds like the price you pay is tied to a meaningless performance measurement, and one that's completely out of your hands. Making things worse, your host has no clue about what it is they want to see you perform, page rank.

Go for Adsense or AdBrite (PPC networks), sell links (if your website has high PR), rent ad space on relevant pages (you have high traffic so you will be well payed for them), join an affiliate program and sell something using affiliate system (eventauly someone from your high amount of visitors will require a product or the other based on your website topic so that traffic is more relevant)
