If your website is good enough, visitors will come in their own time. What you should be focusing on is valuable content.

Ditto. You will get your targeted traffic if your site contains rich content which are useful to users. Just keep on promoting it and apply SEO to it so it can easily be found...

What they said. The "guaranteed traffic" scam is actually just trash traffic, usually along the "we pay you to surf" or "we send 500 fake visitors through proxy IPs so they're not actual traffic" lines.

The only "guaranteed traffic" you could purchase is something along the lines of Google Adwords, and that usually isn't cheap.

Follow the advice of others on this board, and you will learn.

I wouldn't use AdWords. There are a lot of low quality sites that advertise through that platform, and I wouldn't want to be associated with them.

IMO buying traffic (from traffic sellers like bettervisitors.com) is synonymous to wasting money and bandwidth. Don't buy traffic, just run ad campaigns if you want to spend money to get visitors.

Whats the point of having a lot of valuable content if the spider never touches it and the only one reading it is you and a bunch of your friends? What is the correct - and most probably lengthy - path to follow,if you are serious about your site? Suggestions anyone?

Do what I do with all my sites. Publish, Improve, Network, repeat the last two steps forever.

I run several sites including my personal blog, I have several regular readers as well as the odd person coming past. Many of my readers have come from the fact that I have commented on their blogs or even blogged about a particular post. A few of them have emailed me and we have started networking, commenting on each others posts and exchanging ideas.

Another site I run is a gig listing site, most of the marketing for this is done offline since it is a local interest site(although there are plans to expand). That site has been active for less than two weeks but already has a nice userbase and ranks in the top 10 for all the key phrases people are likely to use.

I don't participate in any link exchanges, seo scams, crap, spam or otherwise. Its about producing content, and networking.

Jamie

Hi there

Dont buy traffic !

I dont know how these sites selling traffic get away with it, I think its somthing most people try at some point, not knowing its really poor traffic. I think its just out of pure desperation of getting hits that some people try it.

Some good advice there too Jamie !

I smell link drop. I wonder what the IP address relationship is (if any) between john00 and Phil. Possibly that Rajesh guy too.

It's certainly nothing new and they probably rely on "domain kiting" as well as indicated by;
Quote:
We use specialist web services to alert us to domain names that have expired in the past 12 hours and then we gauge the traffic levels through other online tools. If the domain has a clearly-defined target market and consistent traffic-flow, then we register the domain ourselves, and direct the traffic into our server.

Have you seen the MC Escher sketch of two hands drawing each other? It's a bit like that.

Without good - unique - content, you can have all the spiders in the world, thousands of unique visitors, and a 100 % bounce rate. With the world's best content, you can wither with no visitors ... but that's much easier to fix. So attractive content should be step one, otherwise your initial promotion will be a waste.

From there, expect things to grow slowly but steadily over time.
