As much as I've used, I think version 7 beats them all - version 8 seems too clunky and overbearing, and if I wanted that, I'd be using photoshop.

(version seven is best if you can afford to add some of the great filters that their affiliates offer)

I like PSP 7 even over Fireworks for doing my web graphics. PSP 8 is too in your face. However, the background eraser and the warp brush and a couple other things... man do I wish I could add them to 7! But I definately pick 7, because it's more simple to use. Maybe Jasc will read this and get a clue.

I have to disagree. The batch processing features of PSP 8 make anyone with a large number of files to process more accessible. Besides, more features is always better than less. You can use the ones you want and ignore the others.

I prefer PSP8 over PSP7. The tool pallette is finally organized logically; all my selection tools are in one place, things like that. Yeah it took me a while to get used to version 8 (I wasn't fond of the text tool options at first) but now that I know what I'm doing the work flow just seems more natural. I never really felt like I was fighting PSP7 but PSP8 is more like "click click click BAM!"

I guess my opinion is biased seeing as I don't have PSP 8. My dad does, and he loves it, absolutel loves it.

I had psp8 for a long time, but I couldn't stand it - the reason I use jasc in the first place, is because of it's simplicity and ease of use - take that away, and it's just another image editor

I still use 7 but get frustrated with it at times. I'm thinking of giving v8 another try
