What is Jasc Paint Shop Pro? Is it like a photoshop? What is the best to use between photoshop and Jasc Paint Shop?

PaintShopPro is image editing software that's been around for over a decade, 1992 in fact. Once upon a time it was one of the bits of software in many a web designers toolbox, but in recent times developed seems to have slowed down. For basic image manipulation it's still a decent choice but check out the many other editors first

Photoshop 1.0 was released in 1990 as Mac only. I think the first Windows version came along in about 1992/1993.

Hello Kittelsoncarpo,

Paint Shop Pro is somewhat similar to Photoshop, there's a huge difference in price, which means Paint Shop Pro doesn't have all the bells and whistles like Photoshop, such as tools, filters, etc. One can purchase filters or download freely given filters to add onto Paint Shop Pro to enhance the software.

As Blue-dreamer mentioned, wouldn't hurt to check out some of the other editors as well.

I like PaintShopPro for smaller projects, I find it faster.
Photoshop is superior and used more widely, but PSP will always hold its place on my hard drive.
