I have PSP 9.01 installed on a Win Vista home pro laptop.
I have an image named AC1.jpg which shows pictures of four Airplanes. I crop out all but one of the planes and hit the F12 key. The folder with all the images including AC1 shows up. I click on it so it shows in the file name box on the save as dialog. I then change the name to AC1A.jpg by adding A to the file name box and hit return. I then get a message telling me that "File AC1 already exists, do I want to replace it?" If I hit "yes", the new file (AC1A) is created and the original file is left undisturbed.

The message scared me in to believing that the original file would be overwritten and it wasn't untill I experimented that I found that this doesn't happen. Can anyone tell me why the message appears?

Thanks Jim B.

Hello Jim,

Honestly, I can't answer the question myself, have been working with PSP for years and change a lot file names myself. The sign doesn't always come up for me, once in awhile it does pop up, perhaps a glitch, they had a lot of problems with version 9, I see you have version 9.1 which is what I have.

By the way, I am running Windows XP, so it's not your Windows Vista causing the glitch.

Happy Painting!

Seen that lots of time on various versions of PSP, never figured out why though.

I just assumed the the programmer checked and flagged the file name on exit from the name entry field, rather than checking as the save button gets focus or is clicked.
