Pasting a Transparent Image?

Hey all. I'm doing some photos and want to add a transparent .gif logo to them (you know, to deter people from stealing, etc) - but every time I paste it on, it's got a white background.

Even to just open it in PSP it's a white background. I've also tried PhotoShop (PSP 8 and PhotoShop 6) and it opens transparent but pastes white.. so I know it IS a transparent .gif...

I am wondering if anyone knows how to fix this? in either PSP or PhotoShop? (not sure if I should post in PhotoShop or not, either..)

Thanks!

Here are some tutorial links on Watermarking, whichever one works the best for you The tutorials will work for PSP 8.1 as well.

There is a simple method that always works. Sometimes its so simple its overlooked.

Use a transparent gif, stretch to whatever size you want, text or whatever can be added on top of this (if you add on the same background layer this won't be transparent) then save as the same format is was in. I use this on my site and it works fine. - Transparent GIF

Although you may not be able to see anything on that link when you click it, there is actually a 1x1 gif which maintains transparency whatever size it is stretched to. Just save as then have a play with it and see what you can come up with. Have fun
