Ajax becomes more and more popular, recently we developed our website used Ajax techonology and Javascript effect, I really find it's a wonderful choice. Unlike Java and Flash, and a host of other web based application delivery methods that preceded it, AJAX applications do not need to be installed, and your users do not need a plug-in. Then of course there is that Asynchronous initial A - AJAX components can load (or reload) only when required. Finally there is a vast array of open source libraries to speed up development, for everything from the mundane to the prosaic.
Have a look at our new website http://www.brightcreek.com, you'll like the effect, and welcome to give us some advices.
1) There are effectively no links on your site and no feeds to provide the links so it's very search engine unfriendly.
2) Turn off javascript and nothing works at all.
3) It's a very small download for an ajax site, so kudos to you.
4) I love your book feature! Is that code we can steal?
5) Tableless layout! Great!
6) Why have your header logo link to /index.php/../home ?
7) Love the graphics and site design. Did you do that? If so, please PM me about rates and whatnot as I need quality graphics designers.
8) It's fairly well indented in the source code. Do you code by hand?
9) Your Ajax script is compressed very succinctly. What script are you using for that, if you don't mind?
Overall, great job. I hope you answer my questions above as I'm an avid fan of Ajax and DHTML.
Not hot on Javascript but seems to be a quite clever script. Base.js seems to be doing a lot which I just cant see by looking at it (is there some obfuscation going on).
As mentioned by Jeremy above if you disable Js before going in ,site completely fails but disabling Js once in and most functions will work including links.
Clearly there is a clever use of the iframe to pass the Http requests and other Js dependent functions like navigation.
Haha, that navigation rollover is just like the navigation in mac osx 10.4/.5
