The question is...why would you want to? If you've got a payment processor in place, they should be the ones doing the work. The thing that scares me about Javascript validation on something like this is that there's no way to verify whether or not the check-digit formula is accurate, and whether or not it changes.
Let the processors be responsible for this stuff.
