I am trying to mask a redirection url, so that the status bar does not show the url, but just a message. I have tried many Javascript solutions, but just does not work. Can you suggest a remedy.

many browsers do NOT allow the status bar to be changed with scripting anymore

have you tried this? <a href="your message goes here" id="redirect">Hello World</a>

Then target the id with document.getElementById('redirect'), an event, and a redirect.
