I have a simple pop up window:

ondblclick="MM_openBrWindow('FAQ.html','','menubar =yes,scrollbars=yes,width=600,height=600')"

It works in Opera, Mozilla..but not IE7.

Why?

When I click on it in IE7 I get a little error message down in the left hand corner.

The idea is that you click on the triangle and it shows an error message, albeit of limited value most of the time. Try putting some characters (no spaces) in the second parameter
