Hopefully someone can answer this question, but I recently had a look at Yahoo7's new ajax features on their website.

Just out of curiosity i wanted to see how the requests were sent and received via Web Developer Tools on Firefox when using their predictive search text. Suprisingly, the requests never showed up in the console. Is there any reason for this? Are the requests being made in such a way to hide this?

The URL is:

Are you talking about their scrolling thing in the middle of the page? It's Flash, but it does connect to the server and retrieves XML data: http://au.yahoo.com/switcher.xml?rnd=41677204 . I think you just missed that in the Firebug Net section.

NOTE: That rnd may be a random number which expires, but at least that will give you a starting point for searching.

No, the actual search bar that gives keyword suggestions; and it isn't flash.

Where the last parameter is the characters typed in. Returns a JSON function call "fxsearch". Showed up in Firebug for me just fine.

Weird, when i type in the search box, the keyword suggestions appear but no requests are being made in the console. However, when i click on 'change location' next to 'weather' on the right side, a request is made. It is being hidden somehow... or failing to recognise the request.
