Hi,

I would like to have images flash up in a pre-set manner on a screen (actually, 4 images, one in each corner, each changing).

What script/programming is best to do this? Javascript, dhtml, ajax, flash etc.

I want something that wont use too much extra bandwidth as the images scroll through their cycle and wont require my visitors to install any special plug-ins.

Also, when you have all decided what is best for me, can you point me in the direction of the 'free downloads'?

Many thanks, I'll let you know how I got on.

Bandwidth is not much of a concern, since the images will be kept in memory once they are transmitted once. If all you want is an image-cycler, you may consider doing a Google search: javascript slideshow, as there are tons of free solutions for this. As far as making it random, there are a few ways of doing this. Probably the easiest way is to shuffle the list of images beforehand from the server, though it is highly likely that one of the slideshow apps will have a way of doing this.

Yes, I also would go with JavaScript. You could create a random number, then decide about the image chosen based upon the random result. Should work fine.

Thanks a lot for your input guys.

With your guidance I put Google to good work and for a basic script to play with. I got the results I needed but you certainly have to work at it because not all scripts match the problem at hand.

Once again, Thanks.
