I currently use a dropdown box where you select the option and it will show all the <tr>'s in a table with that "id", but i want it to hide all other <tr>'s in the table which do not the the "id" selected, can anyone help me or tell me what to do?

jQuery allows the :not pseudoselector to indicate a negative exception.

that works but i have a table header with the class "tableheader" which i require to still be there! any way i can incorperate that in?

if you're using jQuery 1.3 or above, :not supports complex statements, such as a comma delimited list:
