It doesn't matter if it was similar or not, it was not your thread, and having answers to two questions from different people on different subjects only serves to create confusion.
It is usual forum etiquette not to hijack active questions. Had the OP of the other thread indicated that their problem was solved or your addition to the thread been looking for clarification on the original topic that would have been perfectly acceptable.
